Labrador Retriever

The Labrador Retriever, with its sweet face and lovable nature, is America’s favorite dog breed. Known for being friendly, outgoing, and lively, Labs make excellent companions for families seeking a medium-to-large dog. These sturdy, well-proportioned dogs can stand between 21.5 to 24.5 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh between 55 to 80 pounds, depending on their sex. Their dense, hard coats come in shades of yellow, black, and rich chocolate. Labs have broad heads, kind eyes, and thick, tapering ‘otter tails’ that constantly showcase their eager nature. Famous for their friendliness, Labs are great housemates who bond with the entire family and socialize well with other dogs and people. Despite their easy-going demeanor, they are energetic athletes who need plenty of exercise, such as swimming and long games of fetch, to stay physically and mentally fit. While generally healthy, Labrador Retrievers are susceptible to certain diseases and health conditions like all breeds.
